I wasn't really planning on doing another dance costume immediately after my last post on Bharatanatyam, but a mishap on my next project lead me to today's post - the Manipuri dance costume for Barbie dolls.
Manipuri is one of the major classical dance forms of India. Apart from its distinctive slow and graceful movements, one of the most striking features of the Manipuri dance is the Kumil - the attire - which I have tried to showcase in this project.
Here are some picture of the costume on one of my Barbie models. I hope you like it.
Enjoy this video of the Manipuri dance:
So what was the mishap? I was a working on a Hanbok (traditional Korean attire), when an irreversible change disqualified the work from being worthy of publishing. "You learn from mistakes, and get better". The Korean attire is postponed for another time, but it sure is coming.
If you liked this dress and want to see other dresses for Barbie dolls from around the world, do let me know. Please like my Facebook page and share this post with your friends.
